Baked Ham with Raisin Sauce

(This recipe was first posted in conjunction with the Meijer Ad Week of 5/6/12 - 5/12/12)

A friend brought over this ham dinner with a delicious sauce when I was on bedrest.  We all loved it and I've served this sauce over ham quite a few times since then!

Ingredients:
whole or half ham
2 Tbsp butter or margarine
2 1/2 Tbsp flour
2 C apple juice or apple cider
1/2 C raisins

Directions:
Bake ham to desired doneness.  Meanwhile, melt butter in a small saucepan.  Stir in flour.  Gradually add apple juice/cider, stirring with a wisk or slotted spoon.  Stir in raisins.  Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture begins to boil.  Boil one minute while stirring.  Serve hot over cooked ham.

Options and Tips
  • You could feasibly make this sauce with orange or pineapple juice as well.  I've never tried it, but almost any fruity flavor goes well with ham.
This recipe, in its original form, can be found on page 329 of Hull PRCS' "Bountiful Blessings" cookbook.  I made a few minor adjustments.
